This post was in collaboration with Cake, who kindly gave me £30 credit to book through their app and dine out at a restaurant of my choice.
If you like hanging out at the snazziest spots and love nothing more than eating in your spare time, oh and live in/near London. Then, sis (or bro) let me tell you about this app called CAKE.
It’s a restaurant booking service, where you earn money back every time you spend. So think of it like a Boots club card. You enjoy some tasty food or beverages and get credit back which you can spend at any of the restaurants, which, is a no brainer if you eat out regularly. There are hundreds of dining establishments to chose from, all across London.
I had a hard time choosing where to go, but Grain Store really stood out to me as they have vegetarian and vegan options and claim they make vegetables the star of the show (which I can absolutely confirm).
You can find Grain Store at Granary Square in Kings Cross. Which is the perfect place to hang out on a sunny Saturday. There are water fountains, a canal and a museum, so if you find yourself at a loose end, I would highly recommend checking this place out.
Let me just mention that if you do visit at the weekend I would suggest booking a table, because even though it’s a huge venue, it was absolutely heaving and nobody likes an hour wait when they hangry.
We grabbed a table outside as it was a glorious day. The whole vibe of the venue is very rustic with a slight industrial flare.
It had a very wholesome feel, almost like you’ve gone for dinner at your cool hippy vegan Aunt’s house in North London. Oh and there’s a pink neon sign in the toilet, (you know it’s a great place when you remember the awesomeness of the toilets).
We ordered a couple of cheeky beverages while we decided what to order.
It’s a tad on the pricey side (maybe because I’m not used to London prices?), but we all left very full and satisfied.
They don’t have a separate kids menu, but they do cater for smaller apetites and offer pasta, sausage and beans, pancakes with fruit etc. So your little one will be happy too.
Between us we ordered crushed avo on toast with scrambled egg:
The fluffiest, thickest pancakes I’ve ever seen which are perfect for a sweet tooth:
Let’s just say he was very pleased!
And I ordered the beetroot burger, with salad and parsnip chips:
I’ve never had a burger made of beetroot but I really wanted to try something new. And i absolutely loved, it was so filling I actually struggled to finish it. The parsnip chips were a tad crunchy but I enjoyed it all nonetheless.
His face pretty much sums up our experience and would definitely get anyone to consider using CAKE when they are out and about in London, looking for a place to eat.
